Defoe House II, the Barbican, London
Apartment refurbishment: New sliding-folding doors to lounge and kitchen bathroom refurbishment
The existing lounge sliding door was replaced with a folding-sliding door set into a pocket in the wall when not in use resolves the problem of the original door obstructing the adjacent wall cupboards. The guest cloaks was transformed to an utility room for the washer dryer and the toilet moved to the bathroom. Hallway storage furniture is hung from the wall without obstructing the glass of the existing door + screens, preserving the transparency of the original Barbican design.
The new kitchen finishes include wood veneer paneling and white solid surface worktops.
